How to apply for social security disability in Mississippi

Are you permanently disabled? Are you unable to work for the next 12 months? You may want to consider filing a Social Security Disability (SSD) claim. This article will cover who is eligible for SSD and how to apply for these benefits.

To apply for SSD, you must be at least 18-years-old. Next, an applicant cannot currently receive Social Security benefits. In addition, all applicants must not be able to work for at least 12 months or know that their injury will result in death. Finally, a successful applicant cannot have a denied disability benefit in the last 60 days.

A disability benefit claim begins with a visit to the Social Security Administration's website, SSA.gov. On this website, an applicant will find the application for Social Security benefits. The application requires personal information, including medical conditions and employment information.

The personal information that is required also includes: date of birth, place of birth and social security number. If an applicant has been married or divorced, the dates of the marriage and divorce must be included. Moreover, names and birth dates of all minor children should be included, and information from financial institutions should also be included for payments.

As for medical information, the name, address and phone number of any medical professionals involved in treatment should be provided. This information is in addition to detailed information concerning medical illnesses and injuries.

The largest category of information is work. A copy of this year and last year's wages must be provided, including a copy of the current year's Social Security Statement. A list of all jobs worked within the last 15 years must also be provided, and individuals who served in the military must provide information concerning their dates of service. Furthermore, any information about additional benefits applied for should also be included in the application.
