Nick and Vanessa Lachey in car accident

There have been numerous Mississippi public service announcements that have admonished both drivers and passengers to wear seat belts at all time. When driving in private vehicles, many adhere to this sage advice. However, when traveling in a taxi or Uber car, some forget to buckle up. Two stars were reminded of the importance of seat belt safety when they were involved in a two car accident.

Nick and Vanessa Lachey were involved in a car accident, while riding in an Uber vehicle. The two often take to Instagram to share their frequent date nights with their fans. On this particular night, their fans were treated to a lesson in seat belt safety. Lachey shared pictures from the vehicles involved in the crash with the heading, "A word of advice . . . always wear your seatbelt when you @uber. There is no such thing as a guaranteed safe ride. #datenight."

The cause of the accident is unknown. Both Lachey and his wife were uninjured. This is not always the case in car accidents.

Distracted and impaired drivers can cause a variety of physical damage to accident victims. Even when the injured party has health insurance, medical expenses may cause a great financial strain on their personal finances.

Injured accident victims may seek to pursue a negligence claim against the cause of driver that caused the car accident. Negligence may be found if the other driver is found to have violated his or her duty to safely operate a vehicle. A personal injury attorney can help plaintiffs fight to recover lost wages, medical expenses and pain and suffering.
