Medical expenses are said to be climbing and when someone is hurt in an accident involving a car, they could easily find themselves facing a medical bill in the thousands. In fact, a car accident can leave someone with a number of expenses which can quickly put cracks in their financial foundation and may even put them at risk for bankruptcy. While sometimes an accident investigation can result in criminal charges filed against the driver, it is not likely to help victims recover.
An Ocean Springs doctor’s office continued to take care of patients despite the fact that its operating room was likely destroyed when a Jeep Cherokee drove into it recently. The cause of the collision was unknown and police could not be reached for any type of comment about it. The driver and three other people were injured; it is unknown whether the three victims were staff or patients. It is also unknown what the status of the injuries suffered were.
Since the accident happened in the morning, it is difficult to know whether the driver was distracted, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or may have suffered a medical condition such as a heart attack or diabetic seizure. If the driver is found to be at fault the victims will have the option of asking for compensation to cover their medical care and other damages.
Sometimes victims of a car collision can be granted monetary compensation that can help them cover any loss of income if they were unable to work. In such a situation, an attorney can be of great assistance because they can help victims determine what a fair amount to ask for is, and guide them through the legal process.
